My work includes many different influences. ➖ Of late, I’m working with lines and boxes of color on photographic paper. I’m interested in how the paint interacts with the paper. That relationship defines the direction of the work.➖ I’m drawn to the patina of old walls, tiles, ancient markings — happenstance, age, memory — that evoke something more than it appears to be. ➖ The simplicity of antique cloths serve as their own story. ➖ The layering of strips of paper create texture as a background for child-like marks that depict an opaque narrative. ➖ I like letters, old books, vintage paper, cloth and photographs. Oil sticks, pencil, graphite powder, wax, and encaustic appear in my work.
